Mohammad Khakpour returns
March 17, 2000 (Official Press Release)

The MetroStars have re-acquired defender Mohammad Khakpour, it was announced today by general manager Nick Sakiewicz. Khakpour, waived earlier this month, was able to renegotiate his contract with MLS.

"I am happy to say that we have found a way to keep Khakpour," said Sakiewicz. "Khakpour filled in admirably in the back for our club last season and after some serious discussions we felt it was important that we find a way to keep Mohammad for the upcoming season."

"I am thrilled to have Mohammad back on the team," said head coach Octavio Zambrano. "He is a player that I have a lot of respect for and being able to afford him gives us even more depth in the back heading into the season."
